Our History
Nebraska-Iowa Aviation (formerly Nebraska-Iowa Helicopter) began in 2016 with a dream and a mission. Kevin Brummond had always wanted a helicopter, but the investment needed a purpose. That purpose came through agriculture. Alongside his son, Tyler Brummond, and business partner Trey O’Daniel, Kevin launched an aerial application company—originally named Nebraska-Iowa Helicopter—focused on precision, efficiency, and reliability in the field.
Unlike chemical dealers, Nebraska-Iowa Aviation partners with ag retailers to apply products accurately and responsibly. Their helicopter fleet, including R-44s equipped with spray booms, offers key advantages: reduced waste, minimized risk of misapplication, and the ability to navigate Nebraska and Iowa’s varied terrain with agility.
Helicopters were a rare choice for aerial spraying in the region, but the team recognized their value—not just for application, but for crop scouting as well. Their first year goal was 50,000 acres, but weather conditions reduced disease and pest pressure, making 2016 a tough season industry-wide. Still, it gave Tyler valuable experience and helped the team build strong, lasting relationships with farmers.
Today, Nebraska-Iowa Aviation continues to serve growers from late spring through fall, delivering innovative, dependable solutions from the air.

In 2024 alone, our team covered 500,00 acres across 12 counties in Nebraska, 6 counties in Iowa, and 4 counties in South Dakota. Our Equipment
All of our aircraft are equipped with Precision DGPS Guidance Systems integrated with fully automated Flow Control Systems. Utilizing our DGPS Guidance Systems we are able to guide the aircraft thru the field with pinpoint accuracy, regardless of terrain, obstacles, or crop planting orientation. Variable rate controllers in conjunction with the aircraft GPS and prescription maps enables us to deliver the exact rate of chemical prescribed evenly across the entire target site. This capability saves both time and money by negating the need for several applications at different rates using old ground-adjusted methods. Chemical is mixed, agitated and dispensed at the job site, giving our customers an immediate treatment while the chemical is fresh. Every load prepared is hand-measured and can be changed or modified as prescribed, multiple times for one job.
